The Chicago hotel had quite an impressive lobby, with sleek furniture, modern tables and lamps, and lush plantings set in groupings all along its length. Gabe had asked me to meet there so we could walk to dinner together, and I settled into a leather sofa with splayed legs and leather upholstery–it had the clean lines of a midcentury classic but the no-nonsense attitude of the city we were in. Gabe showed up, smiling, and remarked that every man needs a solid leather sofa at least once in his life, and I had to agree.
We recreated it in our Englewood Sofa, a sleek beauty with splayed legs, straight sides, and medium gray leather upholstery. The cushions on both the seat and back are plush but not overstuffed, so the sofa looks refined, not sloppy. Imported.
